Information for Publishers All publishers in the UK and Republic of Ireland are invited to submit their eligible titles to the Children's Poetry Bookshelf Selectors. You may submit to the CPB three times a year, corresponding with each school term. We ask for manuscripts up to six months in advance of publication, according to a carefully worked out schedule. The relevant submission guidelines are below. Please read them, contact us for further details about our trading arrangements and then ask to be included in our publishers' database if you wish to submit. All manuscripts need to be accompanied by submissions forms, which we send to children's book publishers three times a year. Although the focus of our selections is on new books, some backlist will be selected. The two Choices for Standard members and three Choices for Premium members will still be chosen by our Selectors, but five other titles, comprising a mixture of new and backlist titles, will also be offered to CPB members in each cycle.
Eligibilty for the choice b) There is no limit to the number of books submitted providing they fall within the guidelines stated herein. c) The publication date of each new title submitted must fall between the publication dates specified in the schedule. d) Each submission must be a new book of poems in English, suitable for children aged 7 to 11, first published in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland; this includes simultaneous publication (within 8 months) in other countries. If an insufficient number of titles are submitted, the best children’s poetry books available will be selected. e) A posthumous collection is eligible for consideration only if published within 6 months of the poet's death. Single author collections, joint author collections and anthologies may be submitted. f) Backlist titles are eligible for the Choice, although new titles will be selected wherever possible. Only one copy need be submitted initially, but publishers will be asked to send three more copies if the book in question is being considered for selection as a Choice. All other criteria relating to the Choice will apply to backlist titles selected as Choices. f) Books submitted should have a list retail price of no more than £10, except by prior agreement. g) Books are submitted on the understanding that, should they be selected, they would be supplied to the CPB at a discount of 55%. h) Books are submitted on the condition that the books will be available and copies will be delivered to the CPB one month before the mailing date. i) Books are submitted on the understanding that, should they be selected, up to five poems in any one book may be reproduced in photocopiable form in the scheme support material and that they may be used on the CPB's website. Other titles b) There is no limit determining the publication price of these titles and the intention will be to offer books at a range of prices. c) Offered books are purchased at a 55% discount. The same discount applies to reorders. d) No carriage costs or small order surcharges should apply. Special offer titles b) There are no price limits on these titles but they will be purchased at 70% discount for premium use. In submitting titles for consideration by the PBS Children's Poetry Bookshelf Selectors, publishers agree to be bound by the above guidelines.
